This hotel has 157 guestrooms, all of which are decorated with cream Hessian wallpaper, pink and cream bedspreads and Cezanne prints. Features include complimentary high-speed Internet access, satellite TV and safes. Bathrooms have khaki marble vanity shelves and floors and include hairdryers, handheld showers and telephones. Restaurant - The hotel restaurant has dome in the center of the ceiling with tiny pinprick lights creating a night sky effect. Along one wall is a yellow and blue stained glass window, continuing the sun and sea theme of the hotel. Seating 60, it serves buffet breakfast and à la carte lunch and dinner. The à la carte menu is seasonal Mediterranean and includes dishes such as Medallones de Rape (Monkfish medallions). Piano Bar - The Piano Bar is situated between the main lobby and the restaurant. The main body of the room is softly lit and has a series of small round tables, each surrounded by four dark pink armchairs. To one side is a brighter seating area, decorated with large original artworks in the style of Cezanne, and furnished with sofas. During the day, light streams in through a glass ceiling, stained in bold primary covers. The bar serves drinks and light snacks from 7am-midnight. The pianist performs every night from 8pm-midnight.

What to expect: Hotel Montblanc opened in a brand new building in 2000. A large lobby area features a marble floor with a wavy blue and cream pattern, which indicates the sea and sand. One wall is dominated by a huge mosaic depicting the works of Gaudi, in the great architect’s own style. While the hotel is well suited to leisure travelers, corporate guests are also drawn by the excellent business facilities. Amenity highlights: The hotel has a range of attractive features, including a secluded outdoor terrace and swimming pool. Indoors, the restaurant provides buffet breakfast and à la carte lunch and dinner, while the Piano Bar has a live pianist every night. There’s also a range of meeting rooms, catering for up to 600 people, wireless Internet access in all public areas and secure underground parking (fee). Insider tip: Although on sunny days guests might find it difficult to drag themselves away from the outdoor pool, a short walk from the hotel reveals some of Barcelona’s biggest attractions. The Gothic Quarter and Las Ramblas are both just three blocks away. So too is the well-connected Plaça Catalunya metro station, which provides easy access to most of the city.
